What type of cement should be used for home construction?

However PPC cement is more suitable for home construction and especially for critical applications such as Foundations, Columns, and Beams & Slabs.
Why Birla.A1 Premium Cement is best for my home construction needs?
Concrete is subject to attack from chemicals and water. Chlorides tend to corrode the steel bars used to reinforce the structure whereas Sulphates attack the concrete itself that eventually result in rusting, cracks and leakages. However Birla.A1 Premium Cement is reinforced with perfectly processed fly ash and reactive silica that form a protective gel. The concrete made from Birla.A1 Premium Cement is therefore corrosion and sulphate resistant.
How do I judge the quality of cement being used?
You can judge the quality of cement by doing the following field tests:
- Open the bag and take a good look at the cement. There should not be any visible lumps. The colour of the cement should normally be greenish grey.
- Thrust your hand into the cement bag. It must feel cool to touch. There should not be any lumps inside.
- Take a pinch of cement and feel it between the fingers. It should feel smooth and not gritty to your touch.
- Take a handful of cement and throw it in a bucket of water, the particles should float for some time before they sink.
